Social Media and College Acceptance

Social media is a huge part of communicating and our society today. Being a huge part, I think colleges and business should look at social media. Social Media is a good way to look at a real person and see what they are like off campus. Social media is a good reflection of the real student. However many people believe that is it a get away and escape from everyday censored behavior . They believe that colleges should not look at social media. Even off the campus, students should understand that social media is posting for all to see, that includes college recruits. On my blogger website I feel and hope I reflect a good image and choose to make good decisions. I want to present myself in a censored manner on and off the campus.

My Artist Card

In my graphic design class we had looked at artist cards. Artist cards can be trading cards or a way to promote an artist's business. It is also a way to reflect the artist and their interest. I decided to create a collage of vogue magazines. Vogue has been an inspiration of mine and I decided to kind of make a magazine cover. The two girls reflect the different and conflicting emotions some people experience. The seem to be the same person however. I wanted to create the sharp edges and contrasts between them to really emphasize that. None of these pictures are my own but the idea is. Please click on photograph for better viewing

Logos vs. Graffiti

My graphic design class viewed the comparisons and differences of graffiti and logos. Here are some of the points we made

Graffiti:
-Cannot be repeated
-May be illegal
-Used for enjoyment
-Different
-Based on large scale
-Supposed to be complex
-Interpreted in many different ways
-Spread and looked at by people viewing trains or downtown areas
-Done by one
-Free form

Logos:
-Found on items
-Used for recognition
-Used for company
-Supposed to be simple
-Interpreted how it is presented
-Travels by product
-Done for someone else
-Organized
-Made by what is popular by society at that time
-Consumer based

Compare:

-Simplistic shapes
-Not pixelated
-Artistic
-Bold colors
-Smooth
-Both convey
-Drawings and pictures
-Ancient
-Need creativity to be created
-Evoke emotions
-Convey a message

Nerman Visit

-Nerman Visit
-Tuesday Dec. 3rd
My graphic design class went to the Nerman Art Museum at Johnson County Community College.
-We toured their graphic design program
-Artist KAWS and Dylan Mortimer were featured
-KAWS was a graffiti artist with interesting colors and characters
-Dylan Mortimer's exhibit Illuminate was featured. Colored light bulbs were made into shapes and "halos". Walking up to the shapes the structure would light up leaving you awestruck and breathless.

My Personality Type

I have recently tested for my personality type. I am an ENFJ,  i am very outgoing, seeking approval form others, enjoy reaching my goals and helping other people reach theirs. Many positive role models in my life share my personality type. Such as, Jennifer Lawrence, Martin Luther King Jr., Oprah Winfrey, and Abraham Lincoln.

I do think my personality test directly matches my personality. I am very outgoing I am a cheerleader at my high school, I am a mentor to freshman in my high school helping them survive that first year.

I does help me understand that I may learn or respond differently than some people.   It helps draws me toward Graphic Design which allows me to be my outgoing self.

I have not really found anyone who I clash with, only if they are very conceded however working with cheerleaders everyday I have to learn to understand other's personalities. I have learned like I am exactly who a computer says I am and that I love being a positive role model to others.
