On October 10th my graphic design class and I visited VML. We had a Q & A question with Aaron Evanson the executive creative director. Here are some of the things I took away from the session
-Being good at one thing is beneficial
-It is important to maintain mind, body, and soul in a healthy state
-Portfolio work is more important than the education
-Do something unexpected in your designs
-When working in a group 1 person in charge
-When in charge be as clear as possible in your directions and expectations
-Keep track of what you are doing
-Get inspired
-Be able to defend your design clients
Most of the questions I asked were about leadership and being able to maintain a healthy team to work with. VML has many big clients and are very inspirational. One day a year all of the branches close down and they go out and serve the community. That is what the picture below is showing.
